Meeting' and 'Annual Photographic Competition - Prints', judged by
Gordon Bartley The AGM will take its usual form, with a pie and peas supper for all attendees. For further information (AGM), please contact the Society Secretary, Chris Wood. This years competition will be judged by Gordon Bartley, with the winner receiving the Societies coveted trophy. For details of how to enter and competition rules, please click here.

‘Remembering the
TSR-2', by Alan Mann (re-scheduled from 3rd February) Alan Mann had a long career in both the aviation industry and academia, and was a specialist in simulator design. He designed the simulator forTSR2 and has developed a major interest in that aircraft. Tonight he will present the results of his studies.
The planned 'internal' presentation by Martin Powell and Ivor
Tamplin will be re-scheduled for a later date.
‘British Turbine-engined Transport Aircraft since World War ll', by Martin Powell and Ivor Tamplin Martin and Ivor continue their review of Britain’s post war transport aircraft moving on to the turbo-props and jets.

'Flight Testing the
Jaguar', by Dave Ward Dave Ward is a member of BAe Systems North West Heritage Group and was heavily involved in the flight test phase of the Jaguar. Tonight he will tell us of those times.

Year', by Jim Newton Our much travelled member Jim Newton had a busy year in 2009 visiting Hong Kong, China, Russia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Switzerland, photographing as he went. For us to enjoy his images tonight.

Past', by Gordon Bartley Gordon has been looking through his slide collection and his show tonight will include RIATs from 2000 onwards, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster Air-to-Air, final Jaguars at Coltishall, final Canberras at Marham, the Bleriot Centennial at Dover, and some airliner shots from Heathrow.

'Aviation Brain of
Rossendale 2010', presented by Martin Powell and the '2010 Annual
Model Competition' Two competitions on the same night with our annual members quiz the Aviation Brain of Rossendale and the 2009 Annual Model Competition delayed from the 20th January. The 'Aviation Brain of Rossendale 2010' was won by Harry Holmes. The result of the annual model competition is as follows (a full photo report will be published in due course): -

by Gary Loveday Our guest, Gary Loveday, spent several years as the only civilian working in Airfield Management at RAF Lakenheath, the home of the USAF’s 48th Fighter Wing. Fortunately he took his camera to work and tonight we will see a selection of those images – it promises to be another interesting evening. |

'Austrian
Experiences' - by Martin Powell and Chris Wood Last year Martin holidayed in Austria and apart from mountains, cakes and palaces, saw quite a few aircraft. Chris also visited Austria but his lens was focussed on trains. He has also photographed trains elsewhere in Europe and we have allowed him to share his enthusiasm with us.

'Members Slide
Evening' - by Chris Wood and Martin Powell This evening we welcome members Chris Wood and Martin Powell. Chris will deliver a slide presentation 'Ringway a decade ago' , showing slides taken in the period between the year 2000 and 2003 All images will be of aircraft and airlines not seen today. Martin will present the second half of the evening, with a selection of slides, including a visit to the USA in 1998.

‘Annual recognition
contest' and 'Ceci, celui et l'autre', by Chris Berry Tonight we have the 2010 Annual Recognition Competition to test your grey matter. The competition is presented by last year’s winner, Chris Berry, who will also provide the second half of the evening’s bill, 'Ceci, celui et l'autre’! Chris has once again delved into his photo archive to allow us to enjoy some more digitised slides of military aviation. Update: The winner of the competition was David Draycott.

‘Jet Bomber Pilot',

Robby Robinson makes a welcome return to the Society. On his previous visits he has told of his time as a test pilot both with the RAF and with British Aerospace at Woodford. Tonight he will tell us of the early part of his RAF Career spent in Bomber Command flying both the Canberra and Valiant.

Harry Holmes has a passion for US Military Aircraft and built up a comprehensive collection of slides of aircraft from the post-war period. Tonight he will share some of these with us. Some of the long-standing members have seen this show before and are looking forward to seeing it again!

‘A weekend in
Geneva', by Mike Lynam
Mike has visited Geneva several times in the last few years mainly to coincide with the balloon festival @ Chateau d'Oex. Tonight Mike covers the changing scene at Geneva Airport, the transport systems in the area including a Paddle Steamer, Balloons and a very damp apron tour. Something for everyone. Tonight the Society welcomes the return of Eric Grove, Professor of Naval History, at the University of Salford. Professor Grove has visited the Society on several other occasions, always delivering a superb and a very informative presentation. Tonight will be no exception. Eric's presentation this evening will be on the History of British Nuclear Weapons.

pictures', by Chris Berry
Chris Berry will tonight deliver his annual 'A year in pictures' presentation. Now in its fourth year, Chris will detail the two major United Kingdom airshows, Fairford and Waddington, include reports from the 2010 trips and visits programme (including Baldonnel/Dublin, Shawbury/Cosford and Coningsby), concluding with a photo round-up from both Manchester and Heathrow Airports.

‘VP-Y - a look at
civil aircraft in Colonial Kenya', by Mike Blake This evenings guest lived in Kenya during the earlier part of his life and has since made a study of civil aircraft registered in Kenya in the colonial era. Please Note: Due to heavy Snow in the Rossendale Valley, tonight's meeting has been postponed. The evening/presentation will be re-arranged for a date in 2011.

All Society meetings are held at Haslingden Cricket Club, starting at 20:00 hours. Please try to arrive by about 19:45 hours, so that you can visit the bar and help set-up the room. Meetings normally finish by about 22:30 hours. |
